The Creations of Fate

In the future, Axel meets a Provectus by the name of Xenox, who is interested in helping him with his mission to "free his people" from the tyranny of Earth's leaders and to find another planet to inhabit. However, Xenox becomes aware that in order for Axel to receive his Zetan abilities, he himself must alter his own future. Xenox explains that it is he, Axel, who seeks out the scientists and the Zetans and implores them to use him as one of their test subjects. In order to secure his own future, to secure the present in which he is currently living in, Axel must first intervene in his past.

Still confused and curious as to why he, of all the people in the world, has to be the one carrying his planet's future on his shoulders, Axel seeks to find an answer in Xenox. He knows that just because he is an astronaut is not nearly reason enough. Xenox agrees that this, though admittedly beneficial, is not why he must undergo this science experiment and help his people. At first, Xenox appears as if he cannot or does not want to explain the real reasoning to him, but Axel's fiery temper eventually works out an answer. Xenox explains that Axel was born with one thing that no other human or even Provectus in existence has - the natural ability to rapidly evolve and grow more complex. Rather than as a result of natural selection and millions of years of time to alter and grow, Axel is unique, in that his body is fully capable of adapting and changing over a short course of time, a trait no other being in the universe has ever possessed. Xenox elaborates that this is the result of the Will of the Universe, and that at seemingly accidental times in the history of the universe, it will abruptly change and alter something, thus forever changing the universe itself. Even the Provectus cannot predict when and why this may happen, but they do know that it is a way of the universe balancing itself out in some way. The universe is like a living organism, that constantly needs to grow and expand itself, and at times, it must rapidly change something in it in order to keep on surviving and supporting itself and all those within it. One of these instances is Axel.

Xenox takes Axel to travel back in time to the day before Axel undergoes the genetic experiment. Axel feels confused, longing to learn about himself while he still can, but Xenox reassures him that he must not confront his past self and that he needs to do what Xenox is telling him. Ultimately, Axel listens, and the two are able to track down the government scientists working on project New Dawn. With a Provectus at his side, it takes little convincing for Axel to persuade them in using him as a subject. He leaves his address with the scientists and informs them that he will be prepared come sundown the following night. They believe that the Provectus with him has found them a worthy subject for their specific experiments, as Xenox leads them to believe he is working with the Zetans on their project to create the perfect hybrid and that he has convinced this human specimen to be involved in the testing by offering him something no human can deny - money. The Zetans, who both respect and admire the Provectus, do not seem to question the Provectus' motives, even though they were unaware that they supposedly had any help from the Provectus. Both the Zetan and human scientists agree to use Axel and tell him that they will pick him up the next night when he is ready.

Thus, the future of Axel is changed forever because he himself asked for it to be.
