Aliens and UFOs - Fact or Fiction?

Let's discuss extraterrestrials, shall we? Since we are all members of EthereaLights, which focuses on a variety of different planets and life forms, we all must have at least a general interest in this topic. So what are your views? Do aliens exist? If so, have they visited our planet? Have their crafts really crash landed here in the past? Is the government hiding information?


I believe, without a single doubt in my mind, that alien life does exist. As said in the movie Contact, "The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So, if it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space." I also think that there are far superior beings out there, with technology thousands, if not millions of years ahead of our own, that to us seems like magic because of how vastly advanced it is. I do think that they are more than capable of traversing the universe, be it through wormholes or bending/folding the space/time continuum, and in that respect, have indeed visited Earth, probably more times than we can count and all throughout history. And yes, I think our government is hiding everything. I think that they know far more than they are ever willing to admit. There are, in fact, secret branches of the government that are so powerful, they do treat themselves as if they are above the law (as seen on a number of occasions, most notably with the denial of Area 51).

Yes, they exist. Without a doubt.

To put this into perspective: Our Galaxy contains more than 200 trillion Solar Systems, each of which has the large possibility of containing planets. Can you honestly say ours is the only one with habitable conditions? Aliens might not even need the same conditions we do.

That is just our Galaxy. One Galaxy. 1. In our 'wing' of the Universe there are uncountable Galaxies, all of which have hundreds of trillions of Solar Systems.

Oh my gosh - you said it perfectly, Tempest! That is the argument I myself have been holding for some time now. I actually once did a report back at the community college I went to a couple years back on aliens and said something very similar. It's true though! The universe is constantly growing. It's virtually infinite. We are SOOO incredibly tiny in comparison to everything. I think it's actually a bit pompous of us to believe that we are the only intelligent beings in the universe.

The real question is whether or not we will get to see them in our lifetime!

What I think would be the most heart-breaking thing for me would be when humans venture into space and find the remains of an alien civilization that is now extinct.

I hope that we'll at least get some taste of aliens in our lifetime, be it the admitting of the government that they exist, more personal UFO sightings, or actual human-alien relations in which the "first" contact is made publicly. I'd be so excited! It's hard to imagine how alien societies would be. They'd have to be so vastly different than ours. It's so fascinating to think about!

That would indeed be very sad. It could happen though. Perhaps there was once life on Mars even that is now extinct? We have found a lot of odd things on that planet, including traces of water.
