I got to sleep in this morning!!!! Have class at 11 20, it's 9 30, 2 hours late.

See, I'm pathetic, but since I usually have to wake at 7 and go to bed around 2-3 this added about 33% of sleepytime!!!!!!

Re: Delight Thread

Post by Hope on Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:05 pm

So today I went to my dress rehearsal for the show I'm doing with my church.

Well it's just a bunch of people singing different songs from this and that. Mostly Broadway.

Well there is this one lady, who sings during mass. And she has the PRETTIEST VOICE EVER. Like, my mom and I look for her every week to see if she's singing. And when we see her, we both smile and get excited.

I actually talked to her one day, and found out she went to school for singing. Hence why she's amazing.

WELLL! I didn't know she was going to be there tonight, because I didn't know she was in the show. And so I sang my song, and was kind of bumming because I didn't feel like I did very well. So I left the stage, and returned to my seat to continue doing homework. (Since I skipped class, I figured I should make up for it somehow.)

Well she comes up behind me, not needing to do this, and goes "Jackie! Oh my gosh! That was SO good! You have an amazing set of pipes. I've never heard you sing! I was so surprised!"

Now let me tell you, I was dying with excitement. I told her that having heard that come from her, I was super happy. XD

Well a little while later, she sang the two most beautiful opera songs EVER. And so of course, I went to go tell her how good she was. Well we actually started talking. Now mind you, up until this point, the longest conversation we've ever had was about 2 minutes. And I'd only talked to her twice, and both times we just complimented one another and pretty much left it at that.

Well I found out she moved to New York to kind of try and make it big. Though I think she was going for opera, more than Broadway. But whatever. And I swear to god......again, she knows NOTHING about me. At all. And she says, and I quote, "You should work at Disney. You have a Disney voice."

My jaw dropped to the ground, because I'd LOVE to work at Disney A. And B, because EVERY SINGLE PERSON I TALK TO TELLS ME I SHOULD WORK THERE. My drama teacher told me, "Jackie, you are confused. You don't want to be on Broadway. You want to do Disney." XD! And she also wrote in my yearbook, because I'm a die hard Disney fan: "Don't worry, you really can live at Disney. They have houses there."

XD!!!!

I know this might sound silly to everyone, But I was SOOO excited!!!! And I was really glad people liked my song, because I'm basically making up all the rhythms and what have you. XD

But yeah, there's my kind of long story. XD sorry about that.

Oh my gosh, wow!! Very Happy Hope, having known you from S*T, I know how big of a Disney fan you are, so I can only imagine what that must have felt like for you! Awww! Aww That's so sweet too that you actually got to speak with this lady whose voice you love. Excited I think it'd be really great if you could live your dream and sing and work for Disney! What do you think? Are you going to try for that now instead of Broadway??

Emm I dunno. Disney might be a REALLY great place to start out. Because, when I was talking to the lady, she said everyone in New York is cut throat. And is mainly about who you know.

BUT I do eventually want to do Broadway, no matter what. My ultimate dream would have been to be Belle, in Beauty and the Beast, on Broadway. But they closed the show, woe. BUT! Being in anything Disney on broadway would be AMAZING!

Well, I think that's a great way to combine both of your loves, Hope. Smile Aw, I didn't realize they closed the Beauty and the Beast show. I'm sure there are plenty of other opportunities though that you'd be interested in. Just be prepared if you're going to live in New York! If it's anything like Chicago, the people are really cold and uncaring. XD

Yeah, I know. I'll probably hate it when I get there. My drama teacher went there and was like "scene on that idea!" XD Besides, she couldn't dance and um...if you want to be on Broadway you need to be able too.

Which is something I need to pick up again, it's been years. XD

And yeah I love when they combine Disney and Broadway. There was Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and Tarzan (but that didn't do well, so Tarzan closed early. Mep!)

Sorry I'm rambling now. XD But yeah, it's definitely something I really would kill to do.

Lol! Ohh, yeah, I didn't even think about that. That's so good though that at least you can! Hehe I'm sure it'll be like riding a bike once you get back into it. Smile

Ahh, okay. I definitely knew about the Lion King, but aw, it seems like they do quite a few Disney things then (although it sucks they had to drop Tarzan - I really loved Disney's version of that movie!).

Lol no, you're not rambling. Haha well, if you're willing to kill, then it does sound like a big dream. I think that if you're determined and work hard enough, you could definitely get there!

I LOVE tarzan too. But unfortunately, from what I've seen....it really wasn't all THAT great. I mean, it had it's moments, and some really good new songs. But the play itself, wasn't. They changed the storyline of it, for ex:

Kercheck (sp) kicks Tarzan out of the family. Completely. He just leaves Tarzan like in the middle of no where. And Kala, gets upset, and leaves the family as well to be with Tarzan. -.-'' It was just dumb.

Re: Delight Thread

Post by Hope on Fri Mar 20, 2009 11:57 pm

Ok. So I'm double posting, sorry. But I'm super excited.

So I had my performance tonight for my church. And despite the fact that I did crack, and when I got offstage I random started shaking (yeah, weird to start shaking AFTER a performance. @.@) there were like 3 highlights of my night.

The first (in no order), was that I got compared to the lady who is AMAZING who I was talking about in my last posts. Like she was OBVIOUSLY SO MUCH BETTER THAN ME, but from my understanding, I was one of the best 3 there.

The second was, that there was this SUPER RUDE couple in front of my grandma and mom in the audience. And I guess they were SERIOUSLY ripping on people, and just laughing at their performance. Now I was the 17th performer, so they've been ripping on people for quite sometime. My mom and grandma told me that the only complaint they had about mine was that "she had to carry her own chair offstage". WHICH ISN'T EVEN DIRECTED TOWARDS ME.

The third was that, for the last FOUR YEARS, my old drama teacher told me I needed to sing louder. No matter what, microphone or not, I always needed to sing louder. Tonight, they had to turn my mic OFF. Because WAY to loud, and almost like blew the speaker. XD! I can't wait to tell her, she'll never believe me!

Sorry, but I'm just SUPER excited.
