What do we have to work with?

I hate to jump the gun a bit but I'm itchin' to start up a role play. Word games are fun an' all but I would like to get the ball rolling.

First thing we need to do is see what we have got to work with.

So go ahead and post a SHORT summary of your character. Nothing too in depth, we don't need your character's horrible and emo past or their shiny trip to glory. Just... where are they now? What do they do as a profession? Do they have any specific duties or responsibilities? Where are they located?

Also, if you have ANY plot or story ideas then go ahead and post those too, maybe we can get some serious brain-storming going on.


So.. I guess I'll go first:

The character I have now is Adsam (I'm working on fleshing out his sister's profile along with another one of his siblings right now). He and his "sister" are soldiers and currently are stationed on Earth for some namsy pamsy political reasons, to show their culture's willing to work with earth creatures and what-not.

OR to act as guards to their litter-mate, Absun, who is a monk of sorts. I can see him being there like a missionary, or maybe just to learn what he can about earth and go back to his cloister. Maybe he's there to learn and teach magics with other species. Maybe he's come to study the Phasmatis, since they are so unique to the planet.

Maybe there are assassination attempts on important people in various species? Maybe the humans don't take the Crittals army presence seriously and they assign them to menial patrol or guard duties?

Let us discuss.

I want to get rolling too, but I wonder where Rydiaen can come in. He's a pretty random guy with no real purpose on Earth except to be a smug jerk. >>

I'm actually not quite sure about his history or purpose, so I wanted to see what others were up to, to better place him in a position to interact with others (as much as he'd hate that XD).

I'm in for a role play, although my schedule has been rather full lately. I'd really like to try starting out though. I still haven't come up with a biography/history for my character yet. I've been meaning to. I'd also like to flesh out some additional characters while I'm at it. I may just have time to do that tomorrow though. Once that's out of the way, I'll reply to this with some more info to see how they can fit in a role play with everyone else.

Calix, what sort of role plays have you used him for in the past?

I like stories where there's a lot of things happening, where there are consequences and rewards. I like a lot of things going on underneath the surface. :> I like 'em complex.

Dermut... haha. Oh boy. Dermut is no one important, he's just a really big, really scary masochistic asshole. I have been pondering his occupation; it has to be something along the lines of mingling mechanics/electronics with the organic. Therefore, I'm thinking he could build and install neurological nanonics and other sorts of nanonic technology.

I've long since actually roleplayed people who were important to society in some way, haha. I don't really care for playing the characters that effect history, so I'm not sure how it would be able to work at all.

Speaking of, I need to finish Dermut's profile on here.

So have we still not started roleplays?

I may be mistaken, but I do believe all roleplays are set in the half-fantasy half-futuristic universe of Etheral Lights. Or more accurately, the mythological folklore of the modern era.

Yep, yep. That's correct. This is a one-themed message board. We've already got a lot of the universe fleshed out (see the OOC stickies). You can always role play off topic in the User Clubs area though. You just need to start a club. It could even be the Role Play Out Of Character Club lol. I don't care. But for the rest of the message board, it's EthereaLights themed.

I'm up for an EL role play! I just need to work on putting together my characters more. (Hey guys - don't forget, you get one Main Character whose description you can even put in your Character Sheet in your Profile!)

I am also interested in role-playing in the EL universe. I just need to find my bearings, seeing as it is a universe I've never role-played in before, and then create a character who is unique and who I believe will have a valuable impact on the role play.

Yes, that is always a good thing.

I'm going to be pretty lenient with things in this universe, so don't feel intimidated, like you don't want to cross any lines story-wise. I know some other message boards have a whole lot of info on their unique worlds and a strict/specific way all things have to be. I think when it gets to be like that, then less and less people are interested, since they feel too unsure of themselves. Mainly, I'm just interested in providing all the basic information you'll need to know to role play in EL without all those restrictions. So, no need to be concerned there.

Either way I'm still interested! But now I just have a quick question. Are you only allowed to make one character for all In character roleplays?

No worries. You're new..

Okay, cool! You can have as maaaany characters as you can dream up! The main character is simply just the one that basically represents "you" in the EL universe.

I shouldn't think so.

I would assume that you could create many different characters in many different locations of the universe, so that you might better sample all the enviorenments arrayed for your use and participate in role plays that would otherwise be out of reach for one character alone.
