Science Fiction Role Play

Okay this will be the OOC thread for our first science fiction RP on PL! Shocking!

Brief Summary: A ship crew on some kind of adventure.

I am low on time right now so I will edit in any information later on ships and stuff and history.

In the meantime if you want to join just put your character down in here with the character sheet and if you have any ideas for the RP or likewise any ideas for ships and background information please throw them in.

Hmm, ideas... Well, how far into the future is this going to be? What if the crew were just on an expedition looking for an alternate planet besides Earth for humans to live on? Perhaps the world grew too overpopulated, and now we're having to look toward the skies for another habitable planet in our galaxy. That's just a thought for why we're all up in space. What should the ship be called?

Personality/Behaviour:
Elsie is a very smart girl, and she portrays herself as such. She can sometimes speak over people without meaning to, but Elsie is a very kind and sweet young woman and doesn't ever mean to come across as superior or as if she knows more than anyone else, even if she does. She's a bit shy around strangers, but once she gets talking about something she likes or knows a lot about, her mouth never stops. She's got a kind heart and very admirable morals and she always seems to do everything by the books. She's a left-brain thinker, and finds it hard to be creative or to venture too far from the intended path laid out in front of her.

Brief History:
Having grown up along the coast in Maine, Elsie has a love for the open ocean and the great outdoors. She came from a middle-class family, with two younger sisters and one older brother. They all used to go fishing at the docks or in their row boat on the weekends or swimming and tubing when it was warm. Elsie has always been exceptional with directions, and her mother would always tell her that she had a photographic memory when it came to learning her way around new places, which wasn't too far from the truth. Having made her way through college on scholarships and student loans, Elsie graduated with a bachelor's degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics, with hopes of getting her maser's in the future. Naturally, her talents were widely desired. She began working for NASA at the age of 23, with the help of many recommendations from her professors. However, with time, her superiors took notice of her natural capabilities with directions and navigation, and they asked her about a future mission into space, wondering if she would be interested in possibly going.

Of course, Elsie was excited to be a part of the crew, but she had to first train for many months until she was finally prepared, mentally and physically. Now an official crew member, Elsie is their navigator and currently living onboard the spacecraft.

Oooh I like the idea! Let's go with that! That way we are the first ever to properly venture into space and that means there is more for us to discover! As for the spaceships name, hmm, how about The Pioneer? Kind of cheesy but I feel it highlights the purpose and at least it isn't The Explorer!!! Haha, so what do you think? As for the year, hm, maybe something like 2085? If the population is 6.7 Billion now I imagine it would be a great deal more by then, assuming no global catastrophe or war devastates the planet. It also gives the technology credibility to exist.

-Powerful build belying his military career.
-Angular, decisive and strong facial features.
-Dark brown eyes.
-Jet black hair, cropped short.
-Stern expression.

Personality/Behaviour:
Slater is a military man up and down. He lives his life by the book; protocol being paramount. He maintains a polite, yet serious disposition towards all non-military personnel. Towards his subordinates he is stern but never cruel, to his superiors respectful but never the sycophant. Many mistake Christian for an indifferent soul who harbours little emotion but this is untrue in every way for he is full of compassion and emotion; he merely has the training and will power not to let it affect his judgment.

Brief History:
Born and raised in England, Sussex, Christian performed obediently and efficiently in his school years, studying subjects he deemed to be practical and necessary over enjoyable. Many considered him overly serious for his age but counsellors could determine no fault in the boy's upbringing or mentality. After his compulsory service in the military Christian decided to stay on full time and by the age of 27 he had been transferred to NASA as part of the public relations effort between the two nations; a considerable achievement for one of his age. When the crisis of the planet's overcrowding was made apparent to world leaders the exploration mission was decided upon and after two years of intensive research the spaceship had been made ready for departure. When it came to picking a Captain for the expedition Christian's name was one of the top on the list and after several arduous trials he was picked to head up the mission.

Lol no, no, I like it! XD I was actually thinking something very similar to that too, to tell you the truth, haha. (The Expeditioner - but that's not a word lol.)

That's a good point - I like the idea too that we'll kind of be going into uncharted territory. It also leaves more room too for unexpected situations to arise. And wow, I really love your characters as well!

Lol where'd they go?

I'm going to probably need to hold off on this until...ummm, well next week. I have finals and projects to work on and finish all this week, since this is the last week of this quarter for me. Tony/onenitedrive and I will be leaving this weekend too to visit our parents, so we obviously won't be here and around then. So, next week I'll be much more active and able to RP! ^^

No problem Fate! I doubt this will see much attention now that EL is done and I plan to start RP's in it very soon! No problem though, this really was just something to kill time while we were waiting! Perhaps if enough activity returns to it we could give it a go though.

Okay, yeah, that does make sense. I'm also anxious to RP in the EL universe anyway. Yep, sounds good to me!

So, any idea when people will start?
