Getting underway

Dimitri sits in the corner of a dive bar on the edge of the passenger terminal which links the European section of a vast orbiting space station. He sits with his cap pulled over his eyes, ciggarette in one corner of his mouth, threating to drop the lump of semi-ignited tobbaco into his glass of vodka.

An hour earlier. he posted a small notice on the local job network advertising a position for a ship's mechanic.

He itches the stubble which is colonising his chin, and generally trying to ignore the background rumble of the air filtration system.

Idly spinning a pair of keys on one finger, he waits to see if anyone will reply to his job posting.
