Yo. I'm Calix, your hero.

Post by Calix on Fri Aug 29, 2008 3:59 am

Obviously, if I'm posting here I must be new, yes? Well, I'm not new to forums and roleplaying, and Syren and Riku should know me well enough. I'm not sure if anyone else I know is here, but... that's two more than usual. XD

I'm Calix, lover of all things BL and yaoi (for those of you who don't know what either of those are, then go here.) I draw, I write, I RP. Not much else to say, unless you want to know about my boring university life as a linguistics major. o_O

Race: 1/2 Asian, 1/2 white, though both consist of other things. So more like 1/6th of everything. xD
Gender: chick, though many, many people on forums assume the opposite; I don't know what it is. They all think I'm a gay boy. D:
Likes: pretty men, boysmut, J-rock, drawing, raep. 8D
Hates: bad grammar and horrible spelling, babies, children.

Eh, you'll get to know me through posts. That I can most definitely assure.... >D

Ooooh, what are your favorite yaoi pairings? Are you a canon purist or are non-canon relationships okay too?

... Being the weirdo I am, I would be interested in hearing about your experience majoring in linguistics!

OH HAY A REPLY. <3

I actually don't watch anime so I couldn't tell you anything in that department. D: I usually go along with canon pairings in manga/manhwa though... but sometimes non-canon too. Depends. Whatever feels right, it's all good to Calix. xD

And there's not really much to say about my linguistics career. It's only just started. [only just changed major] I'm uh... taking French and Korean this semester? And... linguistics courses? xD;;

French is fun to learn, when it's not pushed upon you. A useful language to know in Canada.

How far are you in Korean? My brother went on a trip to Korea recently, and he came back with some nifty trinkets... (should add a seventh langauge to learn?)

*grin grin* Are you at all familiar with the Hellsing manga? <3 (Just bein' weird, don't mind me)

Cava?

Post by greenflavouredink on Fri Aug 29, 2008 10:58 am

I generally assume people on th role playing forums until proven otherwise. I've found that females tend to role play more often than males.

::shrug::

That's just my experience though.

So um.. Yes. Hello. Smile

Oh yes. I'm in my second year of French, and I haven't gotten anywhere in Korean—this'll be my first year. I know Hangul, though, so I guess that's a good head-start. :3

As for Hellsing, I've only heard of it, and not much else. Sorry. [doesn't read a lot of the 'mainstream' manga]

Well, I'm pretty sure you've seen evidence of that on S*T. XD I think Imperv (or Taco or someone) even said that straight out. D:

I thought so too, but lately that hasn't been the case for me. I d'know, I'm always shocked to see the number of male RPers joining forums I'm at. o.o

AND YES RIKU (who is too cool for quotes/calix is lazy). It is CALIX TIEM. [pelvic thrusts!]

Well, I've never thought of Hellsing as 'mainstream'. Mostly because EVERYONE knows what Naruto and Bleach are, but I haven't met anyone in real life who knew what Hellsing was before I converted them to the light. Hellsing has more of an underground occult following like... hmm, the ol' fashioned underground comix that were aimed at adult audiences in the 70's. There wasn't a big following, and the majority of people didn't understand the fascination with comix (not to be confused with comics, the 'mainstream' version). It's actually quite a short manga compared to Naruto and Bleach (they have over 30 volumes now? trying to compete with Dragon Ball's 42 volumes total...) in which Hellsing ends with 9 vol. BlahBlahBlah

Yep! Isn't it awesome we joined on the same day? Dance

I always thought of it as pretty mainstream... [knows of a lot of people who are into it] XD

I absolutely can't stand series that go on for about 9409405940953409 volumes. I'm not gonna last through that. Hahaha. Or buy. D: My favorites are one-shots, which usually I only find with BL these days, but that's fine by me. xD Most other things I read are under 10 volumes, though. Average being about 6. [nods] Longest complete set I have is 9 volumes, so that tells you I don't go for anything more. [laughs]

You're certainly the most wiser between us too. I started collecting the FMA series before realizing how long it would be (C'mon, the anime was 50 episodes! That's false advertising for those wanting the manga!) So I'm stuck with breaking my piggy bank until that one's over. Now for any series, I just want the first volume, three at most, to study character introductions and how the stories start out (panel layout, etc...).

I like to either have the entire series, or up to the first three volumes. (I'm somewhat obsessive-compulsive that way). Your way saves more cash. Sweat Drop

... Read any good BL, Yaoi, or Shonen-ai lately? XD

Yeah, I feel like I gotta finish too. I hate having a volume ONE and TWO and then... nothing else, knowing there are more. I just can't take it. xD

And as for yaoi manga... d'know, I can't think of anything that's standing out at the moment, but then again, lately I've mostly just been RPing it. o.o;

Even better! Far more entertaining, when you're able to participate in the action. *cough* Corrupting original characters, or characters from established series. *cough* :3

Perverts like us are fried in caulderons of oil in Diyu (Chinese Hell). Imagine what the God of Christian faith would do to us? (If he really did believe in love though, he wouldn't mind homosexuality...)
